Know your developer
I'm K.W. Tharana Nimsara — a self-taught Python developer and Linux starter from Sri Lanka. Over the last 300+ days, I've gone from writing my first scripts to engineering full-fledged desktop applications, custom parsing engines, and offline-first databases.
I learn by building, breaking things, and reading a lot of docs. This is my corner of the internet to show what I'm working on.
~ What I'm building
- Contact Engine (Phase 2) — Migrating the local SQLite desktop client into a FastAPI cloud-sync backend with Async SQLAlchemy.
- Markov Chain Engine — A dependency-free text generator and graph traversal engine (BFS/DFS) built purely on the Python standard library.
~ Education
- University of Sri Jayewardenepura — selected for B.Sc. Physical Science (ICT), starting 2027 (incoming undergraduate)
- Advanced Level — Mathematics, Physics, ICT
- Cisco Networking Academy — Linux Essentials Certification
~ Currently learning
- Linux & System Architecture
- Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA)
- Real Analysis
- FastAPI & Async Python
~ Behind the Scenes
You are looking at a custom-built web application. No React, no Tailwind, no website builders. Just vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript engineered from scratch to mimic a native desktop operating system environment.
- Interactive, draggable command-line terminal with fuzzy matching
- Global command palette (
Ctrl + K) - Konami Code easter egg
- Responsive Bento grid with 3D tilt and mouse spotlight tracking
- Dynamic dark/light mode with local storage persistence
~ The Philosophy
I believe in writing clean, typed, and tested code. I don't just build things that work; I build things that are maintainable, documented, and robust.
